Details

The original order for this particular RS 2.7 was submitted by the Dutch Importer and Distributor.  The order was however cancelled and the vehicle then executed on behalf of Mitsuwa, the official distributor for Porsche in Japan.  It was completed on a special order in June of 1973, shipped in October of 1973 and sold new in Japan and first registered in December of 1973.  It is an extremely late production example in one of the very rarest of colors and likely “piece unique” as the car was specifically ordered with no options and all standard features deleted.  No radio, no sports seats, no AC, no sunroof etc…  The original engine (Typ 911/83, No. *6631420*) failed shortly after delivery to the original owner and was replaced under warranty by Porsche/Mitsuwa with a replacement engine that was also a Typ 911/83 and used the same number, No. *6631420*.  This engine remains fitted to this Porsche today.

After the warrantied engine was fitted, this Porsche was placed in storage sometime in 1975 and not removed until 2011 at which time it had covered just over 13,000 kilometers during early ownership in 1973/1974.  A complete set of original Japanese Department of Motor Vehicle Records has been carefully preserved which documents each owner, registration and date of ownership on this Porsche going back to new.  Interestingly with few exceptions, the ownership of this vehicle is almost exclusively by large and medium sized business and corporations which treated the vehicle as a company asset rather than as a functional automobile.  This was actually relatively common place in Japan at the time and not until a few years ago when removed from storage was this vehicle sold to an actually collector.  Upon removal from storage, this Porsche was sold to a collector in Nagoya and then given a complete and total, fully documented restoration.  During the restoration, M471 (LightWeight Specification) front and rear valences were added and the missing original space-saver, spare-tire was replaced with a modern one.

Upon completion of the restoration, the owner was afraid to drive the car and it was offered for public sale and immediately purchased by our company.
