History

“Very rare, early production, First Series Carrera RS 2.7. Completely rust and accident free coming out of long-term 35 plus year storage. Un-restored with documented history!”

This particular RS 2.7 was sequentially the 207th of 1,590 examples produced. It is as such a very early and highly desirable first series example. It was originally completed in the very rare and striking color of “Viper Green” which was color code “38 / 225-9-2” with black cloth and leatherette Sport Seats left and right as well as seat-belts left and right. No radio or sunroof was ordered or fitted new.

Porsche’s original assembly records record that the vehicle was completed in December of 1972 and later that month delivery took place at the Porsche Factory with the client taking delivery of the car with current registration and plates for West Germany.

This Porsche remained with a single owner in Germany until 1978 when it was sold and imported to Japan. On arrival in December of 1978, it was issued road registration and plates “399 4116″ which it would retain for then next 35 plus years. At the time of importation prior to being road-registered, this Porsche had covered 15,500 kilometers from new. An additional 8,000 kilometers were added to the car prior to being placed in long-term storage in 1980. Last year this Porsche was sold to another Japanese owner and issued road-registration and plates “333 41-41.” Total mileage at that time was 23,559 kilometers. Current total mileage is now 23,571 kilometers from new.

An complete and comprehensive inspection and evaluation has just been completed. All of the “date-coded” cast and stamped components have date codes of October and November of 1972 which correctly correspond to the vehicles assembly time frame when new. The hidden “Konstruction” or body tub number is 1033446 which corresponds to a completion of November 1972 as well. There are several areas where the original “Viper Green” paint can be seen showing through the current Grand Prix white which further confirms both the vehicles identity as well as authenticity.

The rear “Duck-Tail” deck-lid is an early, all fiberglass, non-reinforced first version and quite rare as such. Engine compression is perfect with no signs of smoke or internal wear or damage. This is a completely rust and accident free example ready for immediate and enthusiastic use by her next fortunate owner!
